Lange habe ich gerätselt, nun ist das Modell auf diesem Bild bestimmt: Es handelt sich um einen "Wolseley 12hp", es ist das Hochzeitsgeschenk von Zar Nikolaus II an Prinz Andreas von Griechenland und Prinzessin Alice von Battenberg.
"The Automotor Journal" schreibt am 24. Oktober 1903:
An Imperial Wedding Present. - The very handsome 12-h.p. Berkeley wagonette, built by the Wolseley Company to the order of H.I.M. the Czar of Russia, a photograph of which forms our frontispiece this week, was given by His Imperial Majesty as a wedding present to Prince and Princess Andrew of Greece on the occasion of their recent wedding on October 7th at Darmstadt. The wagonette, as our readers will see both from the frontispiece and the other illustration of it which we reproduce, is an exceedingly handsome and commodious vehicle. It is one of the new 12-h.p. design and has been very tastefully finished and upholstered inside with blue morocco leather. There is accommodation for five passengers in addition to the driver, and a detachable omnibus top is supplied for use in winter, a separate canopy and wind screen being used in summer. Before the car was presented to the royal couple it was sent to Darmstadt direct from Birmingham in the charge of a special messenger, and was fully tested and examined by H.I.M. the Empress of Russia. Princess Alice of Battenberg and H.I.M. were thoroughly delighted with the handsome appearance and highly satisfactory running of the wagonette. As chronicled in our last issue the happy couple, after the ceremony, left Darmstadt on the car for Heiligenberg in Elsass, passing through Jugenheim, the country seat of Prince Louis of Battenberg. The car is a very fine example of the high-class workmanship and finished carosserie which the Wolseley Company are now turning out.
